Dry Ice Safety

Dry Ice Safety

Inside your package, we have used Dry Ice to ensure your handcrafted dough pucks arrived in peak condition. Do not touch Dry Ice with bare hands and keep children and pets away.

Because Dry Ice is significantly colder than a standard home freezer (-78.5C,-109.3 F), please handle this package with a little extra care to ensure your baking experience is perfect from the start.

The First Steps:
1.    Unpack Promptly: Remove your dough pouches and place them immediately into your freezer.
2.    Handle with Care: Do not touch the dry ice slab with bare hands. Use oven mitts or a towel if you need to move it.
3.    The "Cold Buffer": For the best bake, let your dough pucks sit in your home freezer for at least one hour before baking to allow them to stabilize to a standard frozen temperature.

How to Safely Retire Your Dry Ice

Dry ice doesn't melt into water; it "sublimates" (turns directly into gas). Here is the safest way to dispose of it:
•    The Ventilation Method: Leave the remaining ice inside the open shipping box and place the box in a well-ventilated area (like a garage, porch, or a room with an open window) out of reach of children and pets.
•    Let it Vanish: It will naturally disappear into the air within a few hours.
•    The "Never" List:  Never touch it with bare skin (it causes instant frostbite).
•    Never put it in a sink, toilet, or drain (the extreme cold can crack your pipes).
•    Never dispose of it in a trash can or airtight container until it has completely evaporated.
